This course is specifically designed for all personnel who are required to operate a Skid Steer Loader as part of their work and aims to provide them with a thorough understanding with the relevant operational and safety requirements. It is suitable for both those with little or no experience and those wanting to formalise previously gained experience in order to gain a recognised qualification.
The course duration is 3 days and will take place at our CPCS approved test centre at Kiveton Park.
The course contents are:
- Introduction to machine
- The basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
- Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems
- Use of the 4 in 1 bucket
- Reducing the levels of excavations to line and level
- Loading vehicles
- Travelling over different types of terrain including rough, undulating ground both in a loaded and unloaded state
- Manoeuvre in confined spaces using forward and reverse direction, in a loaded and unloaded state
- Travel up and down substantial inclines in a loaded and unloaded state
- Provision and use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
- Health and Safety Work Act 1974
Course outcomes
On completion of the course your employee will be able to:
- Operate the Loader safely under varying site conditions
- Carry out minor adjustments and routine services
- Place the skid steer in and out of service condition
- Carry out a pre-shift inspection
- Excavate from a bank/stockpile
- Create a stockpile with excavated material
- Identify and comply with manufacturers' instructions in accordance with the operators handbook, other information sources and applicable legislation
