The course duration is 5 days and will take place at our CPCS approved test centre at Kiveton Park.
The course contents are:
- Carrying out pre-use and running checks
- Manoeuvring within confined spaces
- Configuring the machine for site and road travel
- Handling loaded / unloaded pallets and difficult shaped loads
- Travelling over different types of terrain including rough, undulating ground and substantial inclines, both with and without loads
- Keeping within safe working parameters
- Understanding the causes of instability of the truck and loads
- Understanding responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other current relevant legislation.
- Use of emergency controls
Course outcomes
On completion of the course your employee will be able to:
- Operate the machine effectively in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and accepted good practice
- Identify the basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
- Place the machine in and out of service condition
- Follow the correct loading and unloading procedure
- Set up the forklift in order to lift various loads
- Ensure load integrity and security
- Lift various loads within the capabilities of the machine
- Take the necessary precautions for overhead services and other hazards
- Place and retrieve loads accurately
