This course is specifically designed for all personnel who are required to operate a Lorry Loader as part of their work and aims to provide them with a thorough understanding with the relevant operational and safety requirements. It is suitable for both those with little or no experience and those wanting to formalise previously gained experience in order to gain a recognised qualification.
The course duration is 5 days and will take place at our CPCS approved test centre at Kiveton Park.
The course contents are:
- The basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
- Configuring the vehicle for site and road travel
- Manoeuvring the carrier vehicle to lift various loads
- Carrying out lifts from minimum to maximum radius
- Precautions taken for underground and overhead services as well as other hazards
Course outcomes
On completion of the course your employee will be able to:
- Identify the basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
- Keep within safe working parameters
- Load a vehicle in accordance with industry practices
- Secure various loads on the vehicle bed in accordance with industry practices
- Carry out pre-use and running checks of the carrier vehicle and lifting application
- Identify and comply with manufacturers' instructions in accordance with the operators handbook, other information sources and applicable legislation
