Construction Plant Competency Scheme

  • New starters – How to progress

  • Trained Operator – RED Card

  • Competent Operators – BLUE Card

NB All the above require health an safety CSCS test within 2 years of the application to CPCS

New Starters –

  • Trained Operative – Red Card – Technical Test – Theory and Practical

  • Conversion to Competent Operator BLUE Card – requires NVQ Level 2  plus CPCS test per category of plant

Red Cards – within 12 months from date of card expiry

  • Registration and completion of NVQ Level 2

Expired Red Cards – more than 12 months from date of card expiry

  • Registration and completion of NVQ Level 2

  • CPCS Technical test

All Competent Operators have 12 months grace from the expiry of their - BLUE Card

Expired – BLUE Card – over 12 months form date of expiry of card – all require

  • Theory test

Plus one of the following

  • Up to date Log Book
  • On Site Assessment (in centre)
  • CPCS Practical Test
  • Or NVQ Level 2 (not mandatory but recommended)
