This course is specifically designed for all personnel who are required to operate a Rigid Chassis Dump Truck as part of their work and aims to provide them with a thorough understanding with the relevant operational and safety requirements. It is suitable for both those with little or no experience and those wanting to formalise previously gained experience in order to gain a recognised qualification.

The course duration is 5 days and will take place at our CPCS approved test centre at Kiveton Park.

The course contents are:

• The basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
• Travelling over different types of terrain including rough, undulating ground in a loaded and unloaded state
• Travelling up and down substantial inclines in loaded and unloaded state
• Forward and reverse manoeuvres in confined spaces
• Precautions for overhead services and other hazards

Course outcomes

On completion of the course your employee will be able to:

• Identify and comply with manufacturers' instructions in accordance with the operators handbook, other information sources and applicable legislation
• Position the dump truck to receive loads
• Carry out pre-use and running checks
• Comply with loading procedures
• Place the machine in an out of service condition
• Set the dump truck for site and road travel
• Ensure load integrity and security
• Discharge loads into trenches over edges
