This course is specifically designed for all personnel who are required to operate an ICB Forklift as part of their work and aims to provide them with a thorough understanding with the relevant operational and safety requirements. It is suitable for both those with little or no experience and those wanting to formalise previously gained experience in order to gain a recognised qualification.
The course duration is 4 days and will take place at our CPCS approved test centre at Kiveton Park.
The course contents are:
- Pre-use, starts, running checks and close down procedures
- Assessment
- Names of components and the purpose and use of controls
- Preparing the forklift for site and road travel
- Use of handbook and other information sources including legislation and Approved codes of Practice
- Manoeuvring in confined spaces in both forward and reverse directions
- Using and re-attaching different types of attachment
- Placing the machine in and out of service condition
- Travelling over different types of terrain including rough, undulating ground and substantial inclines using different wheel drive and steer combinations
- Assessment
Course outcomes:
On completion of the course your employee will be able to:
- Know the capabilities of the machine, its purpose and limitations
- Decide whether or not a load is safe to lift
- Know safety precautions necessary for the correct operation of the machine
- Be able to interpret the information provided by level pegs, profiles etc
- Be able to carry out effective routine adjustments and servicing procedures when necessary
